Our growth strategy
At General Healthcare Group (GHG), we have a clear strategic focus that drives our growth and development. This allows us to manage our changing environment around us pro-actively and build on our position as the leading provider of independent health care in the UK.
Our growth strategy is based on a dynamic business model, where any actions we take to develop the business contribute to our future differentiation and success.
Focus on quality
Our core focus is the efficient and effective delivery of high-quality patient care, which ensures we achieve the best possible clinical outcomes and remain at the forefront of patient care.
Efficient hospitals
We are structured to optimise both central and local management of our hospitals. This means we can make the best use of our fixed and variable assets to maximise our revenues.
Consultant, GP and staff engagement
We believe that engagement with our consultants, GPs and staff is essential to ensure outstanding care and treatment. This builds confidence in our business and the patient referral process. We build relationships with key stakeholders, including primary care trusts (PCTs), GPs and leading medical insurers, to ensure we become their partner of choice. We are committed to attracting, motivating and retaining the highest calibre staff and leading specialists to work in our hospitals.
Capital investment
We reinvest as much revenue as possible into continuously improving our hospitals’ efficiency and effectiveness, as well as leading-edge equipment and services. This ensures we remain at the forefront of technology and secure future returns and stability for the business.
New services
We are committed to introducing new products and services to ensure that our hospitals continue to meet the requirements of the communities they serve.
New facilities
We have established superior operational efficiencies and leveraged the scale of our business through buying and partnership terms, this has resulted in industry-leading operating margins. We are therefore able to target appropriate network expansion add competitors’ facilities and services into the business.
Looking to the future
We will continue to grow and provide an ever-greater proportion of the UK population with locally available independent health care services.
We anticipate further growth from increasing public awareness of our treatment quality and results, and our broadening range of services. This includes the expansion of renal services and radiotherapy, emergency care facilities in selected sites and partnerships with key NHS Trusts. We also plan to expand the number of fertility and assisted conception units.
