patient satisfaction rating of good, very good or excellent (Patient satisfaction survey carried out by Howard Warwick & Associates, Jan - Sept 2009)
Our people
“We have an incredible group of people working at this company. They are very skilled at what they do, and are committed to the care that they give to our patients. If you go into a hospital, that sense of commitment is tangible. Our people are the company’s key assets.”
Catherine Ward, Group HR Director
"At BMI Healthcare, we nurture a culture of nursing and clinical excellence through clear leadership, skilled supervision, and providing the appropriate training and support. We are proud of our nurses and value them highly as the professional experts in their field, which is why we make every effort to ensure that they have job satisfaction and a rewarding career. Their focus on maintaining high quality patient care has helped us to achieve consistently excellent patient satisfaction ratings over the last year."
Fran Campion-Smith, Director of Nursing & Clinical Services
At General Healthcare Group (GHG), we understand that our people are the most important factor in giving the best patient care. With 9,200 dedicated health care and support staff looking after patients across the country, we are committed to attracting the very best consultants and staff in our hospitals.
BMI Healthcare is regularly voted one of the top 100 health care organisations to work for in the UK*.
The role of the nurse
We also recognise our nurses’ essential role in delivering excellent patient care and consider it essential that they maintain their clinical expertise. We provide training programmes and have recently developed a national framework for nursing roles, with learning and development modules on both clinical compliance and personal development. This gives a national standard for nursing skills, helping individuals understand and manage their career and professional development.
The role of hospital staff
BMI hospital staff are committed to supporting their hospital in the local community. For instance, they’re active in establishing patient support groups that help patients who have undergone cancer treatments as well as cosmetic or obesity surgery.
“Up Front” is a breast cancer support group based at BMI’s Chiltern Hospital. It was established by five women who had had breast cancer and two specialist breast care nurses. Well over 200 members from the surrounding area attend group support sessions.
BMI Chelsfeld Park Hospital and BMI Alexandra Hospital were among the first hospitals to launch patient support groups in conjunction with the UK’s leading patient association for weight loss, the British Obesity Surgery Patient Association (BOSPA).
BMI employees are also active in raising funds for many local and national charities.
The BMI brand rests on the belief that ‘people who work in health care change lives for the better every day’. Our employees of the company are living evidence of this, in both their personal and professional lives.
